SESSION LEADER: Jean Skipper
From the perspective of a visual artist and a gallerist, Jean Skipper leads this session that will be applicable to other types of art too. During an interactive roundtable format, learn how to introduce yourself and your business in 60 seconds or less, develop and define your collection, price for profitability, communicate in written and oral form, design effective marketing materials, manage wholesale and consignment relationships, participate in shows, sell online, maximize social media opportunities, teach for fun and profit, proactively refer business to others, and ask for referrals.
Lecturer – Jean Skipper: Jean is a mixed media artist, gallery owner, teacher, and retreat host from Vass, NC by way of Pittsburgh, PA. She’s been working and teaching as a full-time artist since 2005. For five years, she owned Artist Alley, a gallery in Southern Pines, NC, and she’s also one of the founders and co-owners of ReMe Retreats. Her current gallery, ARTworks Vass, celebrated its 5th anniversary in 2022. In her work, Jean incorporates solid copper, sterling silver, found objects, and other treasures into her sentimental and whimsical one-of-a-kind jewelry and assemblages. Jean’s enthusiasm for her craft and art marketing is contagious; her experience is extensive; her style is easy-going; and her genuine concern for others encourages them to reach for their dreams.
