Isabel Galgano

Literary Artist

Service Location: Lee County
School Placement: Southern Lee High School
Graduate of: University of Virginia

Isabel Galgano is originally from Richmond, Virginia and learned her love for writing through a deep passion for reading at a young age, keeping her own little “library” of carefully stacked books surrounding her childhood desk. Isabel graduated from the University of Virginia with a bachelor’s degree in poetry writing and politics, as well as a minor in philosophy. She is a poet interested in finding meaning and acknowledging the unknown. She explores concepts of childhood, meanings of home, and the interpersonal nature of poetry through her writing.

Isabel also has experience mentoring and teaching through Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and has always been inspired by learning from the creative minds of children. Isabel is looking forward to answering the invitation of arts education through ArtistYear as an ArtistYear AmeriCorps Resident Teaching Artist in North Carolina!
