Issue 6 – July 15, 2020
As we go through the fourth month of this pandemic, welcome to the sixth issue of Moore Art Share – COVID Edition, a digital collection of creative works from the Moore County community that documents how we responded to this strange time we find ourselves in. Scroll down to see the new submissions. They are listed in no particular order. And, if you are so inspired, please submit your own work.
Special thanks goes to everyone who submitted a COVID creation, the Arlington Public Library’s “Quaranzine” for the inspiration to do something like this, and to The Sway, The Pilot, and Sandhills Magazine for spreading the word. Stay safe, keep sharing your COVID creations, and enjoy!

“The Valiant Knight”
Inspired by my great friend, James Valliant, “The Valiant Knight” is a new rock guitar instrumental. I’m a guitarist, bassist, singer, and songwriter. I’m big into music, literature and philosophy. And, of course, ice hockey! I teach private lessons online at www.GuitarWithLance.com.
“Maine Farm at Rest”
Cameron, NC & Quebec
Open Acrylics; Size: 36″x30”
This work was started in the dead of a Québecois winter…with the wind whistling and snow falling outside. At that point I was still anticipating my yearly travel to the Good Ole North State, and was working on a few pieces for a show (that the Coronavirus put a stop to) inspired by my time spent on the NC Coast growing up. I decided to do a large work, based on a photo I had taken in Calabash last summer. I knew it would be a challenge, with so many different aspects to incorporate…the many different signs (each one of them a little project in and of itself)…the juxtaposition of different angles and skewed perspectives…the Fishing boat looming in the background! My aim was to marry a bit of realism with my love of and tendency towards abstraction.I finished the piece at the end of June.
5 sails at night photo I took represents wonderful memories of our visit to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. 5 Sails offered breathtaking views of Stanley Park, Coal Harbour, Vancouver’s North Shore, and the Lion’s Gate Bridge.

Mother nature beauty.
This is a mixed media piece using acrylic paint, stamps and collage. I painted it out of a feeling that we are all in uncharted territory trying to discern how best to navigate life in the time of the COVID-19 crisis. Although it is a self-portrait, the portrait represents all of us who are in it together. There is so much we do not know about the virus and the future!

“I’m Here For You”
This is a painting as part of my COVID on “missing families.” I try to emit a feeling of togetherness while we have to be apart.
“Sending Hugs” Card
Being a former elementary teacher, I guess I have never stopped loving to color, cut and paste! These cards are meant to brighten someone’s day during this pandemic.
