Art Show: Travels in Tanzania @ Campbell House

Campbell House Galleries is reopening on June 1 to present the art exhibit, TRAVELS IN TANZANIA, featuring paintings by Jessie Mackay and photos by Tim Sayer.

NOTICEFor the safety of you and our staff, the Arts Council will follow the CDC recommendations and NC mandates. These include a thorough cleaning of the entire first floor of the Campbell House; daily cleanings of high-touch surfaces; all staff & visitors must wear a face mask/covering while in the galleries (masks available @ $1); social distance while moving through the galleries; free hand sanitizer available in lobby; all staff offices closed to the public; and a limit of 36 people (12 per 1,000 square feet) in the galleries. The Arts Council asks everyone to be respectful of these requirements, and though inconvenient, they are in place to protect us all.

NOTE: Proceeds from the sales of Jessie’s paintings and Tim’s photos in this exhibit will support the mission of KARIMU. Founded by Mackay and Rev. Tally Bandy of Southern Pines, KARIMU is a nonprofit that empowers Tanzanian women to earn enough by raising pigs and goats to educate their children. To this endeavor they have added solar kits made in North Carolina, which enable the women to establish charging stations for lights and mobile phones.

*The Arts Council & Campbell House Galleries will be closed Friday, June 19, 2020 and Friday, July 3, 2020.

The Arts Council of Moore County (ACMC) created the Fine Arts Festival in 1980 to provide incentive for local artists to improve their technique and a place to showcase and sell their artwork. The festival has since grown into a major exhibit featuring artwork by artists from all over the country. The event also includes an art competition where the entries are judged and cash prizes and ribbons are awarded.

Art Removal: You may remove your art beginning on Aug. 28, 2020, but it must be picked up by 5p on Sep. 1, 2020, or by prior special arrangement. [NOTE: We are closed on Aug. 29 & 31.]
