YOUTH ARTS PROGRAMS
 "Moore Creative Arts" (MCA) is the youth arts division of the Arts Council of Moore County, and consists of a series of cultural enrichment programs for the young people of Moore County. Activities range from art workshops to children's theater productions; from professional shows to summer arts events. ACMC believes that a bright future lies in the hearts and minds of our young people and supporting arts programs will insure that our children have the best possible conditions for a bright future!

Moore County Writers' Competition
Moore County Writers' Competition was created by the Arts Council of Moore County to nurture an appreciation for literature and a love for writing. Now being presented by the Weymouth Center for the Arts & Humanities, this annual writers' competition is open to all Moore County residents and students, enrolled in public or private Moore County schools, including Sandhills Community College. This exciting ACMC program offers a variety of outings to points of cultural interest. ARTours include day and overnight trips to acclaimed musical and theatrical performances, as well as tours of major regional and national art exhibits.

Named after the Latin name for the longleaf pine, the Palustris Festival is designed to celebrate the visual, literary and performing arts and will showcase to local residents and visitors, of all ages, what makes Moore County unique and special: artists, musicians, and writers we produce locally and attract from all over the world, a variety of art galleries, our area's unique beauty and deep-rooted history, world-famous golf, fine hotels & resorts, excellent restaurants, unique retail shops and much more. With over 75 events scheduled during the 4-day event, and many of them free and open to the public, the Palustris Festival promises to offer something for everyone! The Arts Council requests the pleasure of your company for another exciting year of Appetite for Art, thanks to the overwhelming response and success of last year's event. Appetite for Art is a series of parties and events hosted by generous friends of the Arts Council. Dinners, luncheons, and other themed events are offered throughout the year.  ART ANONYMOUS 2010 - June 4-30, 2010
The Arts Council will once again offer its wildly popular and fun way to support the arts in Moore County that involves all artists and anyone looking for a way to get good art at a reasonable price. Art Anonymous is our take on an idea by the Royal Academy of London where artists donate 5"x7" works of art to be sold for only $50 at the Arts Council's exhibit in June, 2010. The secret is that the artists' names will be anonymous until their peice is sold.

Celebrating over 30 years, the Arts Council of Moore County and Southern Pines Recreation & Parks Dept. invite you to one of the best, small-town festivals in North Carolina. Presented at Downtown Park in beautiful Southern Pines, the festival has something for everyone: arts and crafts, live entertainment, great food, fun rides, a One-Mile Fun Run/Walk, a 5K Road Race, and much more!

THE PINEY AWARDS

The Piney Awards is PineStraw Magazine's annual recognition of excellence in the arts and a celebration of the culture of the North Carolina Sandhills. Four honorees are recognized each year in their artistic field -- literature, visual arts, music, and performance arts. Each recipient, in his or her own unique way, has made an invaluable contribution to expanding the public consciousness of art and strengthening the vivid cultural life of our community, bringing distinction to their craft and earning the attention and respect of critics and audiences alike. GRANT PROGRAMS

 For Moore County middle and high school students interested in the arts...
ACMC's BARNES-TRAVIS ARTS SCHOLARSHIP
NEXT DEADLINE: Friday, March 12, 2010 at 5 pm
In 2000, ACMC started a scholarship endowment fund with the goal to award merit-based scholarships to Moore County middle and high school students with demonstrated talent and career interest in the arts. A component fund of the North Carolina Commnity Foundation, past scholarships have been used for attendance at Appalachian State University's Cannon Summer Music Camp, the NC School of the Art's Chamber Music Institute, East Carolina University's NC Suzuki Institute, the Mims Studio's Youth Summer Program, the Parsons School for Design, New York Summer Film Academy, or to take private lessons with an art or music teacher.  GRASSROOTS ARTS PROGRAM
NEXT DEADLINE: Date in August, 2010 TBD
ACMC serves as North Carolina Arts Council's Designated County Partner for distribution of Grassroots Arts Program funds. Based on the county's population, ACMC will make matching, cash grant to not-for-profit organizations and schools planning arts projects. Past Grassroots Arts projects include funding for artists in the schools, community plays & musicals, performances by professional artists, and other arts related projects in the community. For individual artists...
REGIONAL ARTIST PROJECT GRANT PROGRAM
NEXT DEADLINE: Date in August, 2010 TBD
ACMC partners with its neighboring arts councils to help fund and administer the Regional Artist Project Grant Program (RAPG), which provides financial support to a broad range of exceptionally talented visual, performing, literary and inter-disciplinary artists by funding a project that will have a significant impact on the advancement of their career. Eligible applicants must be an artist not enrolled in a degree or certificate program, at least 18 year old, and reside (for at least 1 year) in the counties of Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, Cumberland, Harnett, Hoke, Lee, Montgomery, MOORE, New Hanover, Pender, Richmond, Robeson, Sampson, or Scotland.
