Both beginners and experienced artists will learn something new by exploring the creation of a work of art using pigments suspended in molten beeswax. This technique of painting can be dated to the second century A.D. in Egypt continuing into Graeco-Roman times and into the current century. This exciting workshop will help you discover modern approaches to encaustic using paper, wood, Ampersand panels or ceramic tile as the base. Learn the skills of pouring, incising, brushing, collage or scumbling. This art form creates richly layered paintings using both opaque and transparent approaches.
